St. John - June 7th-June 14th, 2009

Caneel Bay
We rented a car for a few days and drove around the Island. Caneel Bay was our first beach stop. We spent the day at Caneel Bay on the last (full) day of our trip (Saturday).

Some of the sugar plantation ruins on the Caneel Bay property:

Hawksnest

Hawksnest Beach was our favorite beach on the island. It was BEAUTIFUL and peaceful - perfect. We spent a little bit of time on the beach on Tuesday, but went back on Wednesday and spent the morning/early afternoon there.

Peace Hill

We made a (small) hike up Peace Hill. The views from the top are spectacular! There were some sugar plantation ruins at the top as well as a beautiful view of Trunk Bay. This was the only time that we saw Trunk Bay ... you have to pay to go to the beach there. We figured there were plenty of other beautiful beaches around that didn't require a fee. Trunk Bay is St. John's most photographed beach.

Cinnamon Bay

Cinnamon Bay was the most populated beach that we saw. You can camp at Cinnamon Bay for $35 per night. They offer bathroom facilities, dining, snorkel gear for rent and a great beach/snorkeling spot.

Across the street from Cinnamon Bay were some ruins from a Sugar Plantation:

Boat Cruise

We went out on a 60-ft sailboat on Thursday. It was just the 6 of us ... a couple owned the boat and they took us on a tour around the islands and over to Hawksnest to go snorkeling. It was a GREAT day - very relaxing! We had a really good time!

Our Place

We stayed in a villa at the Westin - it was great! We had our own pool and hot tub, a kitchen and a place to grill out! The place was wonderful!
